6th Street Center For Youth

6th Street is a drop-in service center for transition-aged youth (14-24 years) dealing with issues of homelessness or a runaway episode.

We have staff prepared to help with family reunification, counseling, crisis intervention, health concerns, employment, housing, educational advocacy, tutoring, support groups, budgeting skills, and case management. We also offer basic services including showers, laundry facilities, afternoon meal, clothing exchange, computer access, and lockers.

How Does it Work?

6th Street programs serve to provide homeless and runaway youth with a nurturing and supportive environment where they can begin to rebuild their lives. Staff believe in the importance of healthy and respectful relationships with the goal of family reunification whenever possible.

6th Street believes that all people are unique and possess special strengths and talents. The center offers the skills and resources to help youth on the path to self-empowerment.

How Long Does it Take?

Each youth works with their own case worker to develop an individualized plan that addresses their unique needs and goals. 6th Street Services can be accessed at 6th Street through the age of 24.

Who is Eligible?

Services at 6th Street are provided to transition aged youth (14-24 years) dealing with issues of homelessness or a runaway episode. Youth can access services directly at the center during drop-in hours, or call to make an appointment with a case manager. Immediate support and services are available.

What is the benefit?

The mission of the 6th Street Center is to provide a safe place where youth experiencing homelessness can acquire the skills, resources and opportunity they need to transition into healthy and independent living and adulthood. Youth are encouraged in healthy behavior and relationships, presented with opportunities for productive activities, provided access to needed resources and supported to accomplish their goals.
